In the event a building permit for construction, improvement or remodeling to add
additional dwelling units or floor area of buildings expires pursuant to the County
Building and Construction Code, a claim for refund may be filed by the applicant who
paid the fee with the Director within one year of the date of expiration of the permit.
Such a claim shall be granted, whereupon some or all of the amount previously paid
shall be refunded to that applicant or his or her written designee, in proportion
to the amount of work not completed. Such a refund shall not be paid until the Department
verifies that the building permit is void.
