§ 94-43. Exemptions.

  • The sections of this chapter regulating the parking and standing of vehicles shall not apply to any vehicle of the police department, the cheif of police's office or fire department; any public or private ambulance; or any public utility vehicle which is qualified as an authorized emergency vehicle, when such vehicle mentioned in this section operates in the manner specified in the Vehicle Code in response to emergency calls. The sections of this chapter regulating parking or standing of vehicles shall not apply to any vehicle belonging to the government or a public utility or its agent while necessarily in use on construction or repair work on or in the public right-of-way. The foregoing exemption shall not, however, protect the driver of any such vehicle from the consequences of his or her willful disregard of the safety of others.
